Royal Caribbean - Kayak Adventure at Historical Christopher Columbus Landing Site (Excursion Code: CXA8A)
We could not pass up this opportunity to kayak, this excursion was on the pricier end but if you enjoy kayaking and listening to history as you pass through beautiful waters this excursion is for you!
The excursion starts off with a van ride with about half a dozen others, the ride goes through St. Croix in the US Virgin Island. The ride was longer than we thought, it was at least 30 minutes. When we arrived we were greeted by the kayak tour guides whom were very friendly and welcoming. After some signatures for liability waivers we were introduced to the basics of kayaking before going into the waters. We were given some time to practice (We have kayaked in the past but even if you were new it would not be too much of an issue as the tour was a non intensive pace and the guide also was a good teacher).
We started in the calm waters of Salt River at departure, seeing and hearing about ecological and historical details about where we were. The waters at times got more intense as we headed towards Christopher Columbus’ landing. The historical tidbits were very entertaining and made the whole experience feel more immersive as you hear what happened hundreds of years ago. The guides were very personable and even took pictures for everyone. The kayaking itself was not exhausting as we often stopped to hear more history from the guide. The kayak portion of this excursion was approximately 2 hours.
This port seemed quite empty in comparison to other ports we stopped at, adding to that; as our time at this port was early and short, there was not much else we had planned to do. We enjoyed this excursion and found it fair in its pricing as it of course included the distant transportation as well as the kayak rental and guided tour.
